Bellin to purchase Dickinson County Healthcare System

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   Dickinson County Healthcare System has signed a letter of intent to be acquired by Bellin Health.

The hospital announced the decision at a press conference in Iron Mountain Monday. DCHS Administrator and CEO John Schon says a small system like Dickinson County’s can benefit from the human and financial resources of a larger partner.

The letter of intent means the two entities will work toward an agreement for Green Bay-based Bellin to acquire the assets of DCHS. Details of the deal have not been announced, but some key points include Bellin expanding healthcare services in the region; offering current DCHS physicians and employees employment with Bellin; and assuming the various collective bargaining agreements at each DCHS location.

The new hospital will be called Bellin-DCHS.
