SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI--   One suspect has been arrested in a Marquette County drug investigation. 

On Monday detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team and Homeland Security Investigations executed search warrants at residences in Sands Township and Ishpeming Township. They seized approximately 8 ounces of crystal meth, 20 grams of heroin, and other illicit drugs. The street value of the drugs is estimated to be more than $25,000.

ESCANABA, MI--   Police are investigating a meth lab found in Escanaba. 

Public Safety was dispatched Tuesday around 8:40 p.m. to the shoreline just north of the coal docks on a report of a man and woman moving plastic bottles. Investigation uncovered an active meth lab.

Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team members were called in to help process and clean up the scene.

Three people were arrested for manufacturing meth.

The Delta County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

HOUGHTON, MI--   Two people have been arrested in Houghton County on drug charges. 

On Wednesday detectives with the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team took a 53-year-old Hancock man and a 28-year-old Houghton man into custody. The arrests stemmed from search warrants conducted on four residences in April. The search resulted in the seizure of more than 100 pounds of processed marijuana and 45 marijuana plants.

They’re charged with delivery/manufacture of 45 kilograms or more of marijuana, delivery of marijuana, and maintaining a drug house.

BARAGA, MI--    Three people have been arrested in Baraga County on drug-related charges.

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team conducted an investigation over the past year. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for a 29-year-old man, a 58-year-old man, and a 26-year-old woman for multiple counts of Delivery of morphine. UPSET says the subjects were involved in selling morphine in the county and within the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.

All three suspects were arrested at different locations in Baraga County and were lodged in the county jail.

HOUGHTON, MI--   Police have seized a large amount of marijuana, following several busts in Houghton County.

Thursday the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team executed four search warrants at residences in Houghton, Hancock, Calumet, and Dodgeville. Detectives seized about 75 pounds of processed marijuana, 45 plants, and cash from sales.

A 28-year-old Houghton man was arrested for felony distribution of marijuana and lodged at the Houghton County Jail on a $30,000 cash bond.

Additional arrests are expected.

MARQUETTE, MI--   Two men allegedly involved in a meth production operation in Marquette have been arraigned.

Robert Nancarrow, 37, and Brodie Smith, 26, are both charged with operating a meth lab.

Last Friday UPSET detectives executed a search warrant at a Fair Avenue residence in Marquette. They seized an enormous amount of meth components, finished meth product, and two firearms. 

Due to the overwhelming number of toxic substances a portion of Fair was blocked off to traffic for five hours.

MARQUETTE, MI--   On Friday detectives assigned to the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) received information about meth components and firearms in a residence on Fair Avenue in the City of Marquette. 

Detective from UPSET executed a search warrant at the residence and arrested a 38-year-old male and 27-year-old male for charges related to manufacturing meth.  Detectives seized an overwhelming amount of meth components, finished meth product, and two firearms at the residence. 

BARAGA COUNTY, MI--   A Baraga County couple is lodged in the Mackinac County Jail on drug charges.

The man and woman—both 34-years old—were arrested in Mackinac County Wednesday for operating under the influence of drugs and possession of meth.

On Thursday the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at the couple’s home. Detectives seized several more grams of meth, scales, packaging for distribution, and a firearm.

Charges in Baraga County are pending review by the Baraga County Prosecutor’s Office.

HOUGHTON, MI--   The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team has made an arrest following a month-long drug investigation in Houghton County. 

Detectives had been looking into a conspiracy to deliver LSD, mushrooms, and marijuana. On March 2 UPSET arrested Ethan Willmert, 18, on two counts of delivery of marijuana. He was arraigned Monday and released on a $5,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges and arrests are pending.

HOUGHTON, MI--   After a three-month investigation, the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team says it has identified one of the primary suspects involved with two meth labs seized recently in Houghton County.

On Monday detectives executed a search warrant at a Spruce Lane residence in Houghton. The suspect—a 35-year-old man—was arrested for delivery/manufacture of meth, operating a meth lab, soliciting another to obtain pseudoephedrine, and possession/purchase of pseudoephedrine to make meth.

He’s lodged at the Houghton County Jail.
