Heiiki Lunta Festival

NEGAUNEE, MI--    The Upper Peninsula Luge Club is helping residents beat the winter blues with its upcoming Heikki Lunta Festival in Negaunee.

Event coordinator Mike Ilmonen says Heikki Lunta—Finnish for “Hank Snow”—is an urban legend created a few years ago when an Upper Peninsula event needed some white stuff to fall. He says the second annual event will feature a parade on Iron Street Friday, January 19. On Saturday events will include a human foosball game, ice turkey bowling, and a toilet-on-skis “Crapper Dash.” A bonfire and fireworks will also be held Saturday night.
