ISHPEMING, MI--   An Ishpeming man has been killed in a single-vehicle accident in the city.

Police were called Sunday just after midnight to North Seventh Street near New York Street. Officers say a side-by-side driven by William Sharon, 52, had been northbound on Seventh when it left the roadway and struck a tree. Sharon was ejected from the vehicle into the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Ishpeming Police were assisted by the Negaunee Police Department and Michigan State Police.

UPDATE, 3/26/18:  Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post say Austin Mitchell, 21, of Ishpeming was the driver in the incident. He was injured. Passenger Jacob Weslin, 21, of Marquette was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.

MARQUETTE, MI--   One person is dead and another injured, following a single-vehicle crash on County Road 550 in Marquette County. 

ST. IGNACE, MI--   A woman has been killed in a two-vehicle accident in Mackinac County.

State Police from the St. Ignace Post say it happened on US-2 just west of St. Ignace around 8:15 Thursday morning. Troopers say the driver of an eastbound minivan crossed the centerline of the snow-covered, icy road and hit a westbound pickup truck.

The driver of the minivan was taken to Straits Area Hospital, where she died of her injuries. The driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries.

A portion of US-2 was closed while investigators processed the scene.

SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident on M-553 in Sands Township Tuesday morning.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post were dispatched around 7:55 to the scene just south of Olsen Road. They say a Mercury Montego driven by Marcus Trujillo, 18, of downstate Fennville was southbound when he lost control of the vehicle and went into the oncoming lane. The car hit a northbound Chrysler Town and Country driven by Peter Anderson, 41, of Gwinn.

UPDATE: Ishpeming Police say the Negaunee driver was David Paul Barto, 73. The other driver involved in the crash has been identified as Gabriel John Lamer, 19, of downstate Wyoming.

ISHPEMING, MI--   A Negaunee man was killed in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Ishpeming Tuesday.

MUNISING TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Wetmore man has died of injuries sustained in a Munising Township go-cart crash.

Sunday around 9:45 p.m. State Police from the Negaunee Post were called to Powell Lake Road near Lost Lake Road. Investigation indicates the go-cart was northbound on Powell Lake Road when it collided with an unoccupied vehicle parked in a private drive.

The passenger in the go-cart—Troy White, 31, of Wetmore—died at the scene. The driver—a 15-year-old male from Munising, was taken to UPHS Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

UPDATE:  Police say the victim in the crash is Gladys Cousineau, 88, of Escanaba. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

ESCANABA, MI--    The Escanaba Public Safety Department is investigating a fatal car accident on Danforth Road near Bay College.

GLADSTONE, MI--   A husband and wife from Gladstone were killed in a two-vehicle accident Friday in the city.

Michigan State Police say it happened around 1:45 p.m. on US-2 & 41 in front of the Delona Restaurant.  Investigation and witness statements indicate Jack and Virginia Johnson pulled out of the parking lot and into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by a 47-year-old Rapid River woman.

CORNELL, MI--   One person was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Delta County Thursday. 

WLUC-TV says a driver lost control of their vehicle on County Road 416 in Cornell around 8 a.m.  The vehicle left the road and struck several trees. 

The driver was transported to St. Francis Hospital, but died en route.  They were the only person in the vehicle. 

The accident remains under investigation.  

UPDATE, 2/8/17:  The Marquette County Sheriff's Office has released the name of those involved in the accident.  Laurel Jean Eagle, 63, of Sawyer was killed in the accident.  Her husband John Anthony Eagle, 65, was the driver of their vehicle.  Police say the driver of the pickup is identified as Daniel John Rivord, 42, of Ishpeming Township.
