LANSING, MI (AP)--   More than two dozen girls and women who say they were sexually abused by a former Michigan sports doctor under the guise of medical treatment have spoken about the abuse on the first day of his sentencing hearing.

Nearly 100 of them are expected to testify during the four-day sentencing hearing for 54-year-old Larry Nassar. The hearing began Tuesday, with victims saying they experienced "searing pain" during the assaults and feelings of shame and embarrassment.

LANSING, MI (AP)--   A judge is holding an extraordinary four-day sentencing hearing for a disgraced Michigan sports doctor who sexually assaulted young elite gymnasts.

Larry Nassar is returning to court Tuesday in Lansing. Dozens of women and girls who were victims will be allowed to speak. Judge Rosemarie Aquilina is expected to order a sentence Friday.

Nassar pleaded guilty to molesting females with his hands at his Michigan State University office, his home and a Lansing-area gymnastics club. He also worked for USA Gymnastics, which trains Olympians.

LANSING, MI (AP)--   The Michigan attorney general's office has asked a judge to sentence a disgraced Michigan sports doctor to 40 to 125 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting seven girls. 

The office filed its sentencing memorandum Wednesday for 54-year-old Larry Nassar ahead of a sentencing hearing beginning next week in Ingham County. He faces a minimum sentence of 25 years.

A judge has sentenced a Michigan sports doctor to 60-years in federal prison for child pornography crimes, one of 3-criminal cases against a man who also admits assaulting female gymnasts. Larry Nassar worked at Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics, which trains Olympians. Federal judge Janet Neff followed the government’s recommended sentence yesterday. Neff says the 54-year old Nassar “should never again have access to children.”

LANSING, MI (AP)--   A former Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics doctor accused of molesting girls at his home and a campus clinic is expected to change his not-guilty pleas to close criminal cases in two counties. 

Online court records show change-of-plea hearings for 54-year-old Dr. Larry Nassar are set for Nov. 22 and Nov. 29 — a week before jury selection was to begin in one Michigan county.

Nassar previously pleaded guilty in federal court in a separate child pornography case. He's scheduled to be sentenced in the porn case in December.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (AP)--   A plea deal could be in the works for a former doctor at Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics charged in federal court with obtaining and possessing child pornography.

Documents obtained by The Detroit News and the Lansing State Journal show a guilty plea has been 

signed by 53-year-old Dr. Larry Nassar.

A formal plea agreement hasn't been filed with the court.

Nassar faces trial in three Michigan sexual assault cases that include young gymnasts who said they were molested while seeking treatment for injuries.

LANSING, MI (AP)--   Lawyers for dozens of women who say they were sexually assaulted by a Michigan sports doctor are trying to overturn a judge's gag order. 

They asked a federal judge to intervene Tuesday and strike an order that bars attorneys and Larry Nassar's alleged victims from talking publicly. Ingham County Judge Rosemarie Aquilina is overseeing a criminal case against Nassar and says his rights could be violated if the public is repeatedly served with negative comments about him.

LANSING, MI (AP)--   Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette says a sports doctor accused of sexually assaulting nine young gymnasts is a "monster." 

Schuette spoke to reporters Wednesday after filing 22 charges against Dr. Larry Nassar, a former doctor at Michigan State University and at USA Gymnastics.

Schuette replied "absolutely" when asked if more charges are coming.

Schuette says the victims were girls or teens who were molested at Nassar's home, his Michigan State clinic or a gymnastics club in Eaton County.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (AP)--   A woman says Michigan State's women's gymnastics coach downplayed her concerns about treatments by a sports doctor in the late 1990s and warned that a formal complaint about sexual abuse could have major consequences. 

The allegations are in a court document filed Tuesday. The woman wants to join more than 20 females who are suing Dr. Larry Nassar. They say they were assaulted under the guise of treatment.

DETROIT, MI (AP)--   A Michigan doctor accused of sexually abusing gymnasts has been hit with a new lawsuit by 18 women and girls who say they were molested by him, mostly at his clinic at Michigan State University.

The lawsuit against Dr. Larry Nassar was filed Tuesday in federal court in western Michigan. It also names Michigan State and USA Gymnastics. Nassar was affiliated with the group.
