DELTA COUNTY, MI--   One person was killed in a car-semi crash in Delta County Monday.

Troopers from the Gladstone Post say it happened around 4:50 p.m. at the intersection of US-2 and Garden Corners. Investigation reveals Donald Kuhr, 61, of Rapid River failed to stop his car when he left the parking lot of Foxy’s Den. As Kuhr tried to turn westbound he was struck by an eastbound semi.

Kuhr was extricated from his vehicle by the “jaws of life” and taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, where he later died. The driver of the semi was treated and released.

PORTAGE TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person suffered injuries in a crash between a car and semi tractor-trailer Wednesday morning in Houghton County.

Sheriff’s Officials say it happened around 8:15 a.m. on M-26 just south of Green Acres Road in Portage Township.  A car driven by a 40-year-old Laurium woman was northbound when witnesses say it veered across the centerline and struck a southbound semi nearly head-on. 

BATES TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Houghton man has been killed in an Iron County crash between a passenger car containing three brothers and a semi.  

Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post say the accident happened Wednesday around 1 p.m. on Bates Amasa Road near Paulson Road in Bates Township. 

Preliminary investigation indicates a 16-year-old male driver from Houghton failed to negotiate a curve, lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line, and hit a semi tractor-trailer. 

POWELL TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person has been critically injured in a Powell Township accident involving an SUV and a semi. 

Sheriff’s deputies say it happened Thursday around 9:45 p.m. on County Road 550 at County Road KCE.  A Lincoln SUV driven by Donald Fortin, 36, of Big Bay was northbound in whiteout conditions when it hit a northbound M.J. VanDamme semi truck driven by Steven Zarkowski, 58, of Marquette.

Funeral set for Daggett children killed in crash

CARNEY, MI (AP)--   A funeral has been scheduled for the three children killed in a weather-related crash in Menominee County.  

The funeral for Michael, Maxwell and Joelle McCue is set for Sunday at the Carney Free Church in Carney. The children ages 11 to 14 died Monday after their van smashed into a semi-truck on snowy U.S. 41 near Daggett.

The children's mother, Susan Meade, is recovering at a hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The 40-year-old is a volunteer emergency medical technician with Mid County Rescue Squad in Stephenson.

Negaunee Township, MI - A Negaunee man is injured following a car-semi accident on US-41 near the old airport. Sheriff’s deputies say the accident happened yesterday at about 4:30pm near Pond Road when a Ford Taurus rear-ended the semi as the truck was preparing to make a left turn off the highway. Both vehicles were travelling west on US-41 when the semi slowed for another vehicle that was turning onto the the median. The truck then began to speed up when it was struck by the Taurus.
