Yearly banished words list published

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   “Bae” tops Lake Superior State University’s 40th annual List of Banished Words.

The school received hundreds of suggestions for terms that should be “Banished from the Queen’s English for Mis-Use, Over-Use and General Uselessness.”  Nominations are usually submitted through LSSU’s website throughout the year, and a committee makes a final decision in late December.

Other words or phrases that annoy the general public include “polar vortex”, “hack”, “skill set”, “swag”, “foodie”, “curate”, “friend-raising”, “cra-cra”, “enhanced interrogation”, and “takeaway”.
