Woman killed in house fire

MENOMINEE, MI--   A Menominee woman died in a house fire over the weekend. 

The blaze was reported Saturday around 3:30 p.m. on the 4600 block of 10th Street. 

When firefighters entered the residence they found a 70-year-old woman.  Officials began resuscitation efforts, but were unable to revive the victim.  The unnamed woman was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
