Wilmoth still missing, Ruska has criminal record

DELTA COUNTY, MI--   One of the people being sought by Michigan State Police in the Central U.P. has a criminal record.

Authorities are searching for LeeAnn Wilmoth, 28, and Eric Ruska, 37. They were last seen in the area of Chicago Lake in Delta County on Sunday. The two apparently work together in Wetmore.

The Michigan Department of Corrections offender tracking database indicates Ruska is a sex offender. He pleaded guilty in Alger County in 2004 to third-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping for an incident that happened in 2003. Ruska was released from prison in 2015.

Troopers are asking people to be on the lookout for Ruska’s black Chevy Colorado truck that’s covered in rust. It has a Michigan registration BVB 7631.

Facebook page “Bring LeeAnn Wilmoth Home” says she and Ruska went fishing together Sunday, and that Wilmoth’s truck and Ruska’s boat have been found near Chicago Lake.

WLUC-TV says the search now involves a State Police dive team.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
