Walk to remember those lost to suicide takes place Saturday

ISHPEMING, MI--   The annual Marquette County Out of the Darkness Community Walk will be held in Ishpeming Saturday. 

Hosted by the Marquette County Suicide Prevention Alliance, the walk at Al Quaal starts at 9 a.m. Individuals and teams from across the county are walking to remember those lost to suicide and to support and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

Activities include a featured speaker, balloon release, children’s activities, and scrapbooking. Proceeds will support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s goal to reduce the annual rate of suicide 20 percent by 2025.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
