Volunteers needed to help vets fish

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Fred Waara chapter of Trout Unlimited is looking for volunteers to help take veterans fishing.

On June 13 the chapter will host residents of the Jacobetti Home for Veterans at Lakenenland Ponds in Marquette. Officials say the pond near the entrance is the easiest to fish and has been the most productive.

About a dozen volunteers are needed to help move vets to casting spots, help cast if conditions are windy, and land fish with nets.

The event starts at 2:30 p.m. and will last about two hours. For more information or to volunteer, contact Herb Grenke at 249-9180.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
