Vehicle rollover leads to arrest

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Marquette woman is jailed, following a rollover accident in the city.

Marquette Police say Friday around 9:05 p.m. they were dispatched to a crash on West Fair Avenue near Presque Isle Avenue.  They say a 54-year-old woman was southbound when she tried to turn left onto Fair.  She lost control of the vehicle, which struck a light pole on the southern shoulder and rolled onto its roof.

The driver was taken to UP Health System Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  She was subsequently arrested for operating while intoxicated and lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

Her name has not yet been released.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
