Vehicle reported stolen from Marquette residence

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Marquette man has been arrested for stealing a vehicle from Lake Superior Village.

Sunday at around 9:20 a.m. City Police were called to an apartment and discovered items from the victim’s residence were also taken. Around noon the same day officers observed the vehicle traveling on East Crescent Street and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver was identified as Joseph Manning, 37, of Marquette. He was arrested for unlawful driving away of an automobile, larceny in a building, and driving while license suspended. The stolen property was later located at Manning’s home.

Manning remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail, pending charges from the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
