USDA offers low-interest loans for home repair

MARQUETTE, MI--   The U.S. Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for home repair loans from low-income families in rural areas.

Loans may be up to $20,000 and carry an interest rate of 1 percent. The money may be used for repairs, insulation, improvements, weatherization, water heater and furnace replacement, and to make a home accessible for persons with a disability.

Applicants must meet certain criteria to qualify.
