US-41 crash injures Gwinn driver

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Gwinn woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Negaunee Township Tuesday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was called around 1:10 p.m. to US-41 near Midway Drive. Deputies say Makayla Mayo, 23, of Gwinn was westbound in a Pontiac Vibe when a Chevy Silverado driven by Jack Cram, 34, of Marquette pulled out of Midway Drive and into her path. The vehicles collided head-on.

Mayo was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Cram was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way.

Michigan State Police and the Negaunee Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
