UPPCO to host meetings about future energy needs

MARQUETTE, MI--   Upper Peninsula Power Company is holding a series of stakeholder forums to seek input on its Integrated Resource Plan.

An IRP is a process used by a utility to evaluate how it will best serve the future needs of its customers. It uses modeling to consider several resource options to do that.

UPPCO officials say they’re now working to develop and submit an IRP to the Michigan Public Service Commission in 2018. They want the public to provide its opinion.

Four stakeholder forums will be held on the following dates:  January 9 at the Terrace Bay Inn in Gladstone; January 11 at the Jutila Center at Finlandia University; January 16 at the River Rock Lanes Banquet Center in Ishpeming; and January 18 at the Munising American Legion Post.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
