POWELL TOWNSHIP, MI--   A boater has drowned in a lake near Big Bay.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened Wednesday around 2 p.m. on Huron Mountain Club property.  Three Club employees were on Mountain Lake in a 16' flat-bottomed Jon boat winterizing campsites when a wave came over the bow and capsized the boat.  Two of the employees were able to swim to shore but the third employee drowned.

Officials say one of the survivors was treated for hypothermia at Marquette General Hospital.

Authorities are withholding the names of the victims pending notification of family and further investigation.

Life jackets and the type of boat are considered to be factors in the accident.
