UPDATE: Partition falls on young girl at Gwinn High School

UPDATE, 9/4/15:  Police say they received notification around 6:15 a.m. Friday that four-year-old Amarah Filizetti passed away from her injuries received in the accident in Gwinn High School Thursday. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.

The family of Amarah asks for privacy at this time.

GWINN, MI--   A four-year-old girl has been seriously injured in an accident at Gwinn High School.  

Forsyth Township Police say Thursday around 10:15 a.m. they were called to the high school gym on a report that a safety partition being installed had fallen on the girl and she was unresponsive. 

Emergency personnel and high school staff worked on the child, who was eventually taken to UP Health System Marquette.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Marquette City Police, and NMU Public Safety assisted in the incident, which remains under investigation.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
