Update from the Associated Press: Mackinac Island fire officials say a freighter carrying iron ore that ran aground near the island has been freed.

Assistant Fire Chief Jason St. Onge tells WPBN-TV the American Spirit freighter got stuck Thursday evening in near Mackinac Island Harbor.
The U.S. Coast Guard says the ship was on its way to Indiana when strong winds pushed it into the muddy bottom of the Round Island passage. WWTV-TV reports it was freed Friday morning.
Fire crews have investigated the ship, which is carrying taconite. They say the 1,000-foot freighter doesn't appear to pose an environmental threat.
