UPDATE: Driver dies in Delta County crash

UPDATE, 6/19:  The Delta County Sheriff's Office says the man who was killed in the accident was John Miron, 29, of Bark River.  A passenger of his car and two passengers of the westbound truck remain hospitalized.  The accident remains under investigation.

DELTA COUNTY, MI--   One person has been killed in a two-vehicle accident in Delta County. 

Sheriff’s deputies say the crash happened Wednesday around 7:10 p.m. on E.5 Road just north of M-69.  They say a vehicle containing seven people was westbound on the Felch Grade Trail when it failed to stop at an intersection and struck a vehicle containing two people that was southbound on E.5 Road. 

Eight passengers were taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment.  One person was taken by Valley Med Flight to U.P. Health System Marquette.  The driver of the southbound vehicle sustained fatal injuries. 

The accident remains under investigation. 

Deputies were assisted by Michigan State Police and the MSP Crash Reconstruction Unit, Escanaba Public Safety, Bark River Township Fire/EMS, and Rampart EMS. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
