AUTRAIN TOWNSHIP, MI--   Michigan State Police are searching for a missing person, following a boating accident on Lake Superior in AuTrain Township.

Troopers from the Munising Detachment say Sunday around 6 p.m. a pontoon boat on the southern side of AuTrain Island took on a large wave. All seven occupants of the boat were dumped into the water. Six of the occupants were rescued and treated for hypothermia, but the seventh went toward the boat and hasn’t been seen since.

The Alger County Dive Team responded to the scene and has been searching the waters. The Michigan State Police Dive Team will take over the search and the county team will continue to assist.

Officials have recovered the boat.
