U-Haul fire destroys family's belongings

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A family has lost everything in their U-Haul, after it caught fire in Marquette Township Wednesday. 

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was notified around 7:15 p.m. that the storage section of the 17-foot truck parked at the Days Inn was fully engulfed. It was full of household items belonging to a family who was in the process of moving from Iron River to Ohio.

The truck and its entire contents were destroyed. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

The Marquette Township Fire Department and Michigan State Police assisted at the scene. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
