Two injured in 3-vehicle crash in Champion Township

CHAMPION TOWNSHIP, MI -  Slush-covered roads lead to a three-vehicle accident in Champion Township which sent two of the drivers to the hospital. According to Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies, the accident happened Thursday morning on US-41 near Daliba Road. A 2003 Dodge Intrepid, driven by 20-year old Ryan Megeshik of Baraga, was eastbound on US-41 when it slid into the path of a 2005 GMC Savana, driven by a 35-year old man Gladstone man. The GMC then veered out of control into the path of a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck, driven by 56-year old Dan Grandy.

     Megeshik and the driver of the GMC Savana were taken to to UP Health System-Marquette for treatment of his injuries. Deputies say the name of the driver of the GMC will not be released until an update on his medical condition becomes available.

     Roads were snow-covered and slushy at the time of the crash and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Safety restraints were used by all occupants.

   The Marquette County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post #81, Unit #131 and Champion Township Fire Department.
