Two feet and counting

NEGAUNEE, MI (AP)--   The National Weather Service says more than two feet of snow has fallen on parts of Michigan's Upper Peninsula with even more on the way before the front passes Wednesday.

As of Tuesday afternoon, 24.5 inches of snow had fallen since Monday in Marquette County near Ishpeming. The National Weather Service says 21.5 inches fell near Negaunee and says total accumulations will reach as much as 34 inches in parts of the Upper Peninsula before the storm ends.

Snowfall started Monday and driving conditions are hazardous amid heavy snow. Weather service meteorologist Justin Titus says roads are in "very poor condition."

The storm comes as an Arctic weather system pushes across the northern Midwest. It's expected to bring a sharp drop in temperatures across Michigan.
