COLUMBUS, OH (AP)-- Divisions among Republicans over pledging allegiance to presidential nominee Donald Trump are trickling down to state parties across the U.S., where leaders are grappling with firings, resignations and insubordination.
After Trump denounced and severed ties with Ohio Republican Party Chairman Matt Borges earlier this month, the GOP's executive director launched a Twitter account mocking Trump's state campaign director. Borges quickly ordered it pulled down and dubbed it a "bad decision." Borges now says he'll support Trump.
In Michigan, the state party fired its grassroots leader from her elected position for refusing to back Trump. Two senators in Alaska resigned honorary posts at their state party after release of a video featuring lewd and sexually charged comments by Trump.
The video prompted the Oklahoma Republican Party's communications director to resign.
