Truck hits Negaunee Township overpass

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A delivery truck hit a railroad overpass in Negaunee Township Wednesday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 1:15 p.m. on US-41 just east of Midway Drive. Edward Beauchamp, 60, of Negaunee had just entered the highway east of the overpass when the vehicle’s utility boom hit the overpass, became dislodged, and landed on the road.

Beauchamp told deputies he’d just loaded several concrete K-rails and thought the boom was low enough. He was cited for being over height.

State Police troopers and Michigan State Police Motor Carrier officers assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
