LANSING, MI-- Michigan State Police are joining other law enforcement agencies across the country by participating in Operation C.A.R.E. Lifesaver Weekend.
The Crash Awareness and Reduction Efforts program strives to reduce traffic injuries and fatalities caused by dangerous driving behaviors. Officials say troopers will be taking a zero-tolerance approach to impaired motorists and those exhibiting any unsafe driving, including not wearing a seat belt, texting while driving, and going too fast for weather conditions.
Operation C.A.R.E. began at 12:01 Friday morning and ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
Last year, seven crashes resulted in seven deaths over the Lifesaver Weekend.
