Traffic accident in Negaunee Township

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI (WNMU) – One person is injured, following a single-vehicle crash in Negaunee Township.

State Police from the Negaunee Post say the accident happened Monday around 4:20 p.m. on US-41 near Industrial Park Drive.

Troopers say a vehicle driven by Stephanie Godfrey, 32, of Marquette was eastbound when she lost control of her vehicle, veered across the westbound lanes and went off the north side of the road. The vehicle then traveled down a steep embankment and crashed into several trees.

Godfrey’s passenger, 33-year-old Cory Godfrey, was taken to Marquette General Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

Stephanie Godfrey was not injured and was cited for careless driving.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
