Time to Fill the Boot for MDA

MARQUETTE, MI--   Members of the Marquette Fire Department are hitting the streets to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. 

The annual Fill the Boot campaign will include 24 firefighters, who will stand at intersections across Marquette and collect money in their footwear.  Funds gathered will be used to help those with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and other related life-threatening diseases in the Marquette area. 

Firefighters will fill the boot Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following four intersections: 

North McClellan and Cleveland Avenues

Washington and Front Streets

Third Street and West Hewitt

Pine Street and Fair Avenue

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
