Three-vehicle accident in Negaunee Township

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Champion man was cited Thursday for causing a three-vehicle crash in Negaunee Township.

Michigan State Police were called around 12:30 p.m. to US-41 near Pond Road. Troopers say a westbound vehicle driven by Katherine Hoholik, 66, of Negaunee had to stop on the inside lane because a truck towing a small trailer was blocking the lane. The truck—driven by Rodney Arnold, 54, of Negaunee—was in the designated turn lane waiting to travel east. Hoholik’s vehicle was rear-ended by a Honda Pilot driven by Gavin Ackland, 19, of Champion. The force of the impact sent Hoholik’s vehicle across the eastbound lanes to the south side of the highway.

No injuries were reported.

Ackland was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
