Teenagers involved in Negaunee Township accident

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two teen girls suffered injuries in a single-vehicle crash in Negaunee Township.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened Thursday around 12:55 p.m. on County Road 510 just south of North Basin Drive.  Deputies say a Buick Enclave driven by a 16-year-old Marquette girl was southbound when she failed to negotiate a curve.  The vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees.

Both the driver and her 15-year-old passenger from Negaunee were taken to UP Health System Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Seat belts were worn and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The driver was cited for speeding.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
