Teen cited in Marquette Township accident with motorcycle

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two people suffered only minor injuries in a motorcycle/vehicle crash in Marquette Township over the weekend.

Sheriff’s deputies say it happened Sunday around 5:20 p.m. on County Road 550.  A Harley Davidson Trike Tri-Glide driven by Stephen Dupras, 67, of Marquette was northbound when a Saturn sedan driven by Carrie Ward, 18, of Marquette pulled out from the entrance to Wetmore Landing in front of him.

Dupras took evasive action and struck a guardrail on the north side of the road.  He and his 61-year-old wife Linda were thrown from the bike.  They were taken to UP Health System Marquette with leg injuries.

Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash.  Ward was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
