Teen arrested for Marquette rollover accident

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Marquette man was arrested Wednesday, following a rollover accident in the city.

Police were dispatched around 12:50 a.m. to the area of Presque Isle Avenue and West Magnetic Street. They say the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene but was later located by Marquette Police.

Austin Hartman, 19, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, no insurance, unregistered vehicle, and failure to report an accident.

Hartman was apparently northbound on Fourth Street when he tried to make a right-hand turn onto Magnetic, hit a street sign at a high rate of speed, and rolled the vehicle. He was not injured.

Officers lodged him in the Marquette County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
