Suspects take police car for ride in Iron River

IRON RIVER, MI--   Three people have been arrested for joyriding in Iron River.

On March 8 State Police from the Iron Mountain Post brought a patrol car to Northland Automotive & Powersports for repair work. After the business closed, three suspects took the car for a ride, then came back.

After an investigation was complete police submitted a report to the Iron County Prosecutor’s Office. The case was reassigned to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office to avoid any conflict of interest.

The office authorized a charge of joyriding—or unauthorized use of an automobile—for all three suspects. They were arrested and released on personal recognizance bonds.

An arraignment date is set for July 23 in Iron County District Court.
