Suspected meth lab found at Perkins Park campsite

BIG BAY, MI--   Police have found a suspected meth lab in Marquette County’s Perkins Park.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post went to the campground Thursday after investigating an assault at a nearby store.  They located the assault suspect at a campsite and saw components related to the manufacture of meth through the window of a pop-up camper.

Troopers obtained a search warrant for the camper and a vehicle.  Certified meth responders from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team conducted a search and seized a one-pot meth lab and components used to make the drug.

One suspect was arrested for an outstanding warrant.  Charges related to the manufacture of meth are pending against two other suspects.

No names have been released.
