Suspect in Schoolcraft County triple homicide dead

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A suspect in a triple-homicide investigation in Schoolcraft County has died. 

Marietta Carlson, 28, of Manistique faced various charges related to open murder, first-degree murder, and unlawful imprisonment in the April deaths of Jody Hutchinson, Heather Aldrich, and Carrie Nelson. 

The Schoolcraft County Sheriff's Department issued the following press release:

“On the date of 6/15/15, because of symptomatic behavior [and] at the request of the duty nurse, inmate Marietta Carlson was taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, where she later succumbed.”

No other details are being released at this time. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
