Suspect passing fake checks arrested by Marquette Police

MARQUETTE, MI--   A downstate man has been arrested for trying to cash counterfeit checks in the Marquette area.  

City Police say around December 11 they learned that a suspect, Joseph Michael Domako of St. Clair Shores, had been going to various banks to cash suspicious-looking checks.  He was identified when he tried to open an account and cash a fake check at Wells Fargo.

Domako was arrested Friday and charged with four counts of uttering and publishing.  Each count is punishable by up to 14 years in prison.   

He remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail.
