U.P. students heading downstate for Lego competition

MARQUETTE, MI (AP)--   Students from teams at two Upper Peninsula schools will compete next month in a statewide science and technology competition in Flint.

Teams from Bothwell Middle School in Marquette and Washington Middle School in Calumet will compete December 13 in the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Lego League Competition. The event is billed as a battle of ingenuity and good sportsmanship.

The U.P. teams were tops among 10 teams competing last weekend at Northern Michigan University.

The nonprofit league was founded in 1989. It is dedicated to inspiring young people to be science and technology leaders.

Each year competitors face a different challenge.
