COPPER CITY, MI--   Police have identified a Houghton County man arrested Thursday morning after a nearly 12-hour standoff with police.

Troopers from the Calumet Post were called to Gratiot Street in Copper City after Jerome Flum, 64, allegedly threatened a public works employee who was trying to collect on a bill Wednesday morning.

Flum was still barricaded in his home and making threatening statements toward police at 9 p.m. Wednesday when the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team was summoned.  Negotiations continued until Flum surrendered and was taken into custody around 6:20 Thursday morning.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
