Stabenow brings Small Business Tour to UP

MARQUETTE, MI--   U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow was in Munising Thursday as part of her statewide Small Business Tour.

The Michigan Democrat stopped by VanLandschoot and Sons Fish Market at 5:30 p.m., then visited Muldoon’s Pasties. She ended her town tour with a visit to the Pictured Rocks Boat Cruise.

Friday afternoon Stabenow will participate in a workforce discussion at the Jacobetti Complex at NMU. She’ll meet with local business and labor leaders, educators, and parents to talk about how the demand for skilled workers in the state can be better filled.

Stabenow will also announce plans to reintroduce her New Skills for New Jobs Act of 2015, which would build on job training partnerships between community colleges and local businesses to help close the skills gap.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
