Speaker of the House willing to use subpoena power in MSU investigation

LANSING, MI (MPRN)--   Michigan State University is under multiple investigations for its handling of sexual assault complaints, and the Board of Trustees says it will cooperate with all of them.

The Speaker of the House says he plans to use every tool he has to make sure MSU cooperates with his investigation.

Two state House committees have opened investigations into MSU. It comes after multiple women accused the school of ignoring their complaints of sexual assault against Larry Nassar. He’s the former MSU sports doctor who was sentenced to a minimum of 40 years in prison for sexual assault.

Speaker of the House Tom Leonard says he’s willing to use his subpoena power to get documents they’ve requested from MSU.

“The board has said in the last couple days that they want to work with us, they want to be transparent and I’m hoping that they will do that. So we’re going to hold out hope that they will,” he says.

The state Attorney General and NCAA also have ongoing investigations into MSU.
