Someone stealing U.P., WI vehicles

CALUMET, MI--   Stolen vehicles have police in Michigan and Wisconsin working together on an investigation.

Thursday morning someone broke into Kissel Chevrolet in Calumet, smashed the glass in the front door and took a 2014 Chevy Camaro SS.

Police from Hurley, Wisconsin contacted Calumet Police to say someone had broken into a business there the same day around 4:30 a.m.  A witness reported the plate on the suspect’s vehicle was registered to Kissel.

The stolen car was later found in Taylor County, Wisconsin.  Deputies there are also investigating a stolen vehicle from that region.

Police have a suspect, but are not yet releasing a name as the investigation continues.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
