Skandia crash kills one

SKANDIA, MI--   One person has been killed in an SUV/semi crash in Skandia. 

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened Wednesday morning on US-41 and Kreiger Drive.  A Niagara Logistics, Inc. semi-truck was southbound when a northbound Ford Explorer crossed the center line and struck the semi head-on.

The driver of the Explorer was taken to U.P. Health System Marquette and later pronounced dead.  The driver of the semi was treated at the scene and released. 

Officials have not released any names at this time.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
