Shooting claims Powell Township life

POWELL TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Powell Township man has died in an accidental shooting. 

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post say it happened Wednesday around 9:20 p.m. at N 1311 County Road KCI.  A 21-year-old male was transported from the residence to UP Health System Marquette, where he later died. 

The accident remains under investigation. 

Troopers were assisted by the MSP Crime Labs in Marquette and Grayling and Powell Township EMS.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
