Sheriff's Office investigates rollover crash in Sands Township

SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person was injured in a rollover accident in Sands Township Sunday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 12:45 p.m. on M-553 near the Blueberry Ridge Trail Network. A Ford Explorer driven by Dennis Forbes, 35, of Gwinn was southbound when he lost control of his vehicle. It hydroplaned into the opposite lane of traffic, left the roadway, and completely rolled over, landing back on its wheels.

Forbes was taken to UPHS Marquette for treatment. A juvenile passenger sought their own medical treatment.

Deputies were assisted by the Sand Township Fire Department, Marquette City Police, and Chocolay Township Police.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
