Search warrants net around 75 pounds of pot in Houghton County

HOUGHTON, MI--   Police have seized a large amount of marijuana, following several busts in Houghton County.

Thursday the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team executed four search warrants at residences in Houghton, Hancock, Calumet, and Dodgeville. Detectives seized about 75 pounds of processed marijuana, 45 plants, and cash from sales.

A 28-year-old Houghton man was arrested for felony distribution of marijuana and lodged at the Houghton County Jail on a $30,000 cash bond.

Additional arrests are expected.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
