Schneider leaving Marquette Chamber of Commerce

MARQUETTE, MI--   The executive director of the Marquette Chamber of Commerce is resigning.

Jason Schneider says he’s accepted a position out-of-state that begins in May. He’ll stay with the Chamber up to April 13.

The Chamber opened its doors in 2015 and today has more than 170 members. Schneider says it functions like a cooperative in that it exists to serve its members. Chamber Board President Christian Verardi says while the Board is sorry to see Schneider go, it’s excited about moving forward with initiatives like Ampersand, Be Local Buy Local, Marquette365, and the Creative Residency.

Chamber Assistant Director Nick Steffey will step in as interim executive director as the board searches for Schneider’s replacement.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
