Sawyer youth arrested for stealing assault rifle

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Forsyth Township man has been arrested for stealing a firearm.

Sunday around 2:40 p.m. Forsyth Township officers responded to the 100 block of Savage Street and found an AR 15 assault rifle had been taken from a residence. The victim had video showing the act and a possible suspect, who was identified as a member of the victim’s family.

Officers and state police troopers located the suspect, interviewed him, and later located the weapon in a bedroom in a house on the 300 block of Dart Street.

Jacob Jeske, 17, was arrested and charged with receiving and concealing a firearm, larceny of a firearm, and felony firearms.

Jeske is lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a bond of $150,000 cash or surety.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
