Sauna catches fire in Escanaba

ESCANABA, MI--   Escanaba officials are investigating a structure fire that happened over the weekend.

Saturday around 9:20 p.m. Escanaba Public Safety responded to the report of a fire at a residence on the 400 block of South 29th Street. The caller advised a large wooden sauna about 10 feet from the house was on fire. Officers arrived within minutes and knocked down the flames. The residence sustained no damage.

It was determined the wood stove inside the sauna got too hot and ignited one of the walls.

Officers remained at the scene for about an hour.
