Rokerthon headed to NMU's Superior Dome

MARQUETTE, MI--   Al Roker of NBC’s The Today Show is coming to Marquette next week.

As part of the third annual Rokerthon the weatherman will broadcast from the Superior Dom as NMU students try to break the Guinness World Record for the largest game of freeze tag.  The event will be broadcast live on the Today Show.

NMU President Fritz Erickson says Northern was one of only five schools selected for the event, beating out schools like Ohio State, the University of Wisconsin, and Virginia Tech.

He says the goal is to have 1,000 NMU students participate in the freeze tag game and 3,000 spectators fill the dome bleachers.

To register as a participant, volunteer, or spectator go to nmu.edu/mc/world-record.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
